About the Author

The author:Born in Vienna, Austria, Harry Seidler studied architecture at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg before winning a scholarship to Harvard, where he studied under Walter Gropius. He also studied under Josef Albers at Black Mountain College in North Carolina and was the chief assistant of Marcel Breuer in New York from 1946 to 1948. He worked with Oscar Niemeyer in Rio de Janeiro before opening his own practice in Sydney in 1949. He has taught at the Harvard School of Design, the ETH in Zurich, and the University of Sydney. In 1996, Seidler was awarded the RIBA gold medal. He died on March 9, 2006.

Aside from enjoying the gentleman's photos (a lot), I also derived some valuable lessons in style, composition and substance for architectural travel photography. A lovely book and a useful resource.

On time and as described.

It's a really good book, but not perfect.

I only wish this book was larger. The photos are beautiful and I am inspired to want to travel to all of these places to view the amazing architecture.

Great Book!

The book arrived within 10 days from overseas which was much less than suggested. The conditition of the book which allegedly had 'scuff marks on the cover' was genuinely as new and I am very happy with the purchase.

I'm an architect and I usually have my camera with me wherever I go, especially to take photos of landscapes and/or buildings that catch my fancy wherever I am.That's the concept behind this lovely coffee table styled book from Taschen publishers. It's a collection of vivid photos of structures that caught the eye of architect Henry Seider. Taken all over the world (every continent is represented), they include the rock structures of Petra in Jordan, the gothic cathedral at Ulm, and the museum für Moderne Kurnst both in Germany, Isfahan mosque in Iran, works by Le Corbusier, Mies Van De Rohe, Frank Lloyd Wright, to mention a few, with minimal notes (and in a few cases, sketches) describing each project.Structures range from historical (Petra, the pyramids and temples of Egypt), to classic, to modern, so there should be something for everyone.As with every other book on architecture from Taschen which I own, this is a delight.
