These are excellent books! The printing is clear with high contrast between the black print and white pages (unlike some church hymnal collections that use off white paper). They are much less expensive here than any other site or store offering the collection. Also, they arrived faster than any other order I've placed with Amazon!However, The ad on Amazon clearly states "Ring-Bound" and many of the reviews talk about the larger format being so much easier to read. I received both volumes in the spiral bound, smaller format. I'm thankful for having any version and can work with them. If you're ordering this collection specifically so you can remove the pages or for ease of reading the larger print, this is not the version you are looking for.
This two-volume set (service music and hymnal) is perfect for my needs. We have the set at church, and the set I purchased from Amazon is for my personal use at home to prepare for upcoming services. I appreciate the suggested tempos for practicing hymns and service music that may be unfamiliar. The volume of church music here is massive, covering centuries and is well worth the price. Buy it!
Terrific books and the pages lie good and flat. NOte: one volume is hymns; the other service music.
These versions are slightly larger than what I have at church which is nice. Great selection of hymns and service music
Excellent selection and meets my need as organist for Episcopal Church. The spiral binding keeps the music lying flat on the music stand, which makes it easy to read. Unfortunately, over time and frequent use, the pages gradually tear away from that binding. Personally, I would prefer a notebook binder where pages can be put in page protectors and removed as needed for playing.
I have been out of the Episcopal Church for about 20 years. The old edition of the two-volume accompanist's (organist's) edition was the same size print as the pew edition. Wish I I had had ose of these when I was playing Episcopal services regularly. The spiral binding is good as is the cover BUT, I never liked the two bound bundles of pages that come out of the binder. I had several of The Hymnal (1940) that were like that and they got damaged quicker than the ones that stayed with the binder.
A great resource for any church musician. Includes additional service music and accompaniments.
