This is as saucy as you would expect from Cumming. However I made a big mistake. I thought I'd ordered the BOOK, but instead I'd ordered the Kindle version. I have one of the earlier kindles and photos viewed on it are horrible. Cumming is a fun snapshot taker, not a photographer, which reduces the quality that much more. I thoroughly enjoyed the narrative and with squinting I could get the idea of the photos, but I want to go to a real store, find the book, and flip through it to see what I missed. By all means, buy this book if you are into irreverent personal stories of behind the scenes Hollywood and Broadway, but pay the extra money and get the "real" book.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Mr. Cummings and his escapades over the years. A humorous and poignant story of a man's journey thru his life. His great views of things that are important to him, his love, his dog and all the lovely characters he has met during his escapades on the road to stardom. His photography was a delight as well as spontaneous and funny to behold. Much continued success to you in all your endeavors.
Reading Alan Cumming's writing, and seeing his photographs, feels like making a new friend - an impossibly vibrant, captivating friend. In this and his last book, he doesn't hesitate to share intimate moments of his life, which alternately left me in tears and fits of giggling. Buy this book; you won't regret it!
I loved the photographs and stories Alan Cumming shares in the unique book. He gives the readers a glimpse into his life off the stage and who he really is when the cameras are not rolling, and that is a very sweet funny, talented man. This is a wonderful book!
The pictures were well worth the price of the book. The anecdotes ranged from really funny, warm or raunchy. Particularly loved the cross country trip Honey since I've taken 11 of them so far with my husband. Could really relate. The Oprah-Eddie story is hilarious--I know people like Eddie--lol!He is such a puckish fellow who has a real understanding of his singing ability--pleasant, not earth shattering--but not sure he realizes how handsome he can be at times, when he isn't grimacing or otherwise making faces. Just a fun book for the most part. Glad I read it.
Love Alan Cumming and its so awesome to read his personal stories.Entertaining and fun just like him!I Recommend it!!!Lots of great pics and the pages are thick - makes a great coffee table book too!
Its a good book, some parts are quite funny, but some parts will hit you right in the feels.
After reading Not My Father's Son, I was disappointed in this memoir. It was okay and pics a saving grace.
